It happened on July 1991 when two frustrated Axemen met at an Open-Air-Festival and were talking about the destiny of Rock´n´Roll. Both were kicked out from the bands they were playing in at this time, so there were no bands and no future for them. After enjoying a couple of beers Jonny Szonell and Chris Mohr turned out the idea to eventually have a session together. Said and done, they tried to get three other bored musicians together. The day after Jonny rang up Franz Meier-Dini, ex-bassman from a folkband and Rick Shulz, ex-drummer from a german chartbreaker-band called Dominoe (they had a number 3 hit in the german and south-african charts back in 1989) to join the session. Also a guy called Thomas Haser, a rocksinger from the munich-area was added to this event. The first session with these 5 guys turned out to be the well-known chaos, that always happens when individual musicians get toghether for the first time. But the chemistry stood there like a giant from the first second on.The only question was what kind of music to play? At that time there was a band they all liked very much  AC/DC  so it became clear what to do. Hard Noise with style, and much more groove.

So they sat down in a practice-room to quickly write 5 songs, plus one coversong (Nicole from Point Blank, we still play that tune today!) to do a support gig for anyone who wanted them back in november 1991. This first gig was, as you can imagine, a total disaster. The song we opened the show with was a shuffle-groove and our beloved Franz started the song with an eighth-beat! Meanwhile it is nearly a trademark in our band, because Franz likes it so much to make that mistake nowadays. But the deed was done and the motor was in gear for maybe the next two years or so. We never thought that this would last for over 10 years and we are all still in the mood to let the engine run faster into the future.
The following months were the same old song and dance. Like writing new songs and doing covers, playing in clubs to an audience of 20 guys etc. I think we also played in front of 3 guys, but that was nearly getting too familiar.(Fuck)!
Then it happened, in the middle of 1992 when we recorded the first demo-tape.Some Agents liked it ,so we got the chance to play bigger gigs. we played clubs and small arenas in the Munich-Area until our first highlight stroke in 1994. We supported the California-Band »The Swan« in front of 2000 people at the Muffat-Halle in Munich. We had first-class sound engineering, first-class backstage, also catering. Wow!!!
After that we got lazy for the next two years, just like real R´n´R-bands like to do it. Then Franz developed an idea to give us more creativity, Record our own CD!. In 1997 we went into the City-Line studios in Munich-Haar and recorded our first CD called »Heaven, Hell or Gasoline«. This CD opened the gate to the greatest highlight in the band´s career:
The Motherland of Rock´n´Roll, USA!!

The disk was out, and we were extremely proud of it. We tried to get a litte more famous with it. So we sent a copy to one of our old friends, Tom Steuer, who emigrated to South Dakota, USA, two years before. This dude was pretty impressed by the work we had done and mentioned to play in the US. All we thought was: Don´t talk that rubbish, man!
But in May 1998 Tom confirmed it by fax: Five Gigs at the greatest Harley-Davidson-Rally in the Broken Spoke Saloon , Sturgis, South Dakota, USA. On the 28th of July 1998 we took the flight to Rapid City. Noone can tell how we really felt about it, we still have it on our minds til this very day. At this place we authenticated our reputation as a hardrockin´ asskickin´ Rock´n´Roll-Band. Aside from that we were the first European band who played this festival ever, the next band was »Def Leppard« in 1999. There were support bands like »Humble Pie« or the »Steven Van-Zant-Band«, that guy is a relative to the Van Zant-Brothers from Lynyrd Skynyrd/38 Special. After that unbeatable event we came back home, kind of burnt out. The singer Thomas Haser took his own consequences and life and left the band.We all thought the end of the band had come and we were nearly at that point to get all the amps, drums, and guitars out of the practice-room, then suddenly appeared(out of nowhere) Carsten Häußer. We played a few sessions with him together and his enthusiasm and creativity has gotten the motor in gear again. We joined him in the band and decided to release a new Maxi-CD called »Millennium Biker« as a Hommage to the unique experience of Sturgis. This CD received attention especially in Biker-Clubs here in Germany and in Northern Italy where we have been invited several times to play some Open-Airs . And now, in the middle of 2001, we are releasing our new Longplayer »Five Guns West« and ready to celebrate this CD and the existing ten years of Wasteland. So watch out what´s coming!!!
