melodic death-metal, American Bay Arena Trash metal, and at the same time the 80's metal classics that every teenager loves.
They got together in a local in their neighbourhood to rehearse, precarious but perfect to experiment, and songs of their own arose quickly, that weren't much cool by the time, but showed a minimum of predisposition and abilities.
Few rehearses later, Marc Gómez became the new lead guitarist of the band, completing it with four members: Ori Novella ( Vocals / Rythm Guitar ), Guillem Bosch ( Drums ), Iñaki Cubero ( Bass ), Marc Gómez ( Lead Guitar ). After four months playing together they made the first gigs in: I.E.S Joan Boscà, KGB. Showing in every one, more and more quality in their compositions. For this reason they decided to record their first demo, which was called "...The Storm Shall Begin", but they couldn't distribute it due to the high production costs and the internal band problems which finally leaded to the leaving of Iñaki from the band.
Two months passed, trying with many different bassists until Marcos López, filled the gap that Iñaki had left. With him the first consolidated formation was completed: Ori Novella ( Vocals / Rythm Guitar ), Guillem Bosch ( Drums ), Marcos López ( Bass ), Marc Gómez ( Lead Guitar ).
The coming of a new member brought to the band a new wave in their attitude, that started to make stronger metal, leaving apart the dark style. For this reason the band's name changed to SHOCKCODE. They also moved to Vallcarca to rehearse, where they knew Djvu, a famous band in Barcelonian's underground hardcore.
In July 2001, they decided to record their second demo with this new style in "Laboratorios Cholb" in Vallcarca, property of Djvu's drummer Xavi Cholbi ( now he's Inadaptats drummer ). The results was "Expose Da' Kode", that only included three tracks, but that showed their capacity to reach the triumph.
They kept on making gigs with other metal bands in well-known locals in Barcelona, such as "Sala Mephisto" with Eclipse (Death Metal), "Sala Guitar Player" with Moonloop (Progressive Metal), "Musikomuna", "El Manantial", etc... showing a live as brutal as their recordings. 2002 was a very benefitious when talking about gigs. More than 20 gigs were made, including the ones made in "Ateneu Popular de Vallcarca" with Warm Up (Power Metal) and Djvu (Hardcore), "Sala Cinc Glops" with Attake Direktto ( Hip- Hop ) and "La festa de la diversitat de Rubí".
Meanwhile, new compositions were being made, every time with more personality and strength. Thus, in 2003 SHOCKCODE had already a big repertoire of 17 songs, so they decided to record their new work for the metal underground: "In Spite Of It All", which contained five whiplashes that astonished anyone that deare to listen it.
And it was good, at the week to record it left the first skittle to them in the "Sala Mephisto", where they could make a large presentation of "In Spite Of It All", impressing the public they sold more than thirty E.P's, and the gigs were multiplied returning to play again with old well-known friends of the band like Attake Direktto, Acid Rain... But, at those so important moments, Marc Gómez left the band without lead guitar.
But one good old well-known friend of the band, Xavi Pérez (ex-Acid Rain), conform and happy with the idea, and many desire to work, was who would replace Marc Gómez at the lead guitar.
Meanwhile, the diffusion of SHOCKCODE's work in the Internet network was impressive, they received more than twenty critics of its recent E.P, and all were favorable, giving support to the band, and always from recognized Webzines or Magazines specialized in Rock and Metal in all its slopes. Magazines as: Heavy Rock, Metal Hammer, Mondosonoro or Rock Sound, became echos of the work of SHOCKCODE, and webzines so recognized as: Rocktotal.com (digital extension of the magazine "Heavy Rock") or Rock Circus scored the recent work of SHOCKCODE over the notable, even in the page of Pueblomaldito.tk, catalogued to SHOCKCODE, like advanced metal combining perfectly the arcane and the modern sounds, unmarked of everything what it's possible to be seen in television or to be listened at the radio, in the present days.
SHOCKCODE's following a good way, very good way. Bands of the stature of Skunk D.F, Elecktra, Fuckop Family, Onassis' Day, wrote to the band asking from where it had left that machine and if could be posible to organize gig swaps. Waiting for Xavi's work ending, SHOCKCODE had already contacted with more than thirty bands, all of them recognized in the national scope (Coilbox, Karbón14, Kibbutz, Fatum, Xkrude, View, Nowan, Freak Mind, etc...) .
And then of all this surprises, came a little moment of clarity in SHOCKCODE history. The song "Expose Da' Kode" was selected to appear in a new compilation of the most important radio magazine of spain "Emisión Pirata", then make a live interview with Juan Pablo Ordúñez, a.k.a "El Pirata", and march to Madrid to present the record in one of the most relevant stages for the spainish underground: Ritmo y Compás.
SHOCKCODE will continue giving notice to the world, that the Thrashcore has born, and it asking loudly for your attention.
!! KEEP DA' CODE HIGH !!
